Oil Removal From Blacktop Made Easy

Parking Lot Repairs ToolOil stains on asphalt are not just an eyesore; they’re an indicator that damage is occurring which can potentially cause serious decay and deterioration of your blacktop driveway or parking lot. Regular oil removal from blacktop surfaces is an essential part of maintenance that will significantly increase the lifespan of your asphalt.

To properly clean oil stains, you need an industrial-strength degreaser and stain remover. We recommend our Universal Degreaser that is versatile enough to be used on both asphalt and concrete, yet is eco-friendly, non-ammonia based, and biodegradable. Not only is our Universal Degreaser highly-effective at oil removal from blacktop asphalt surfaces, it can also be used to degrease engines and garbage cans and can even clean pet stains, kitchens, and bathrooms. We offer our Universal Degreaser to our customers at an incredible price.

Many customers ask if they can simply apply sealcoat over oil stains to mask their appearance. This is never a good idea. Oil, grease, and transmission fluid stains ultimately lead to the breakdown of asphalt. Oil removal from blacktop is one of the most important steps to take before sealcoating your asphalt.

If you are going to seal your driveway, begin by sweeping the entire expanse of the asphalt with a stiff broom to remove dirt and debris. Blot puddles of oil and then apply degreaser directly to stains. Make sure to check each stain for signs of decay by pressing a screwdriver directly into the stained area of asphalt. If the area is soft, the oil is actually burning the asphalt, and most likely, you’ll need to heat the area with a blow torch, scrape away the stained asphalt, and replace it with either cold patch or hot asphalt depending on its size. To purchase cold patch, give us a call at 1-866-399-5562. We can also give you expert advice on how best to patch areas of damaged asphalt.

If the stained surface is still firm, you can use a rag or cloth to effectively remove the substance. We strongly advise not using paint thinner or any variety of petroleum-based cleaner for oil removal from blacktop. Not only are they not effective, these products can cause serious degradation of your asphalt; leaving you with crumbling gravel that will most certainly need to be replaced.

We offer our Industrial Strength Degreaser and Oil Stain Remover in several sizes and can ship it directly to you. Perfect for cleaning a wide variety of surfaces, you’ll undoubtedly find many uses of this incredibly versatile product.
